35th Annual Women’s Health Symposium Luncheon

Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian hosted the 35th annual Women’s Health Symposium luncheon benefitting the Iris Cantor Women’s Health Center on Tuesday, October 24.

The symposium, titled Mind, Mood and our Microbiome: Emerging Connections, was moderated by Dr. Orli Etingin, director of the Iris Cantor Women’s Health Center. The event drew over 300 attendees and was held at the Citigroup Executive Conference Center.

Presenters Dr. David Artis, Director of the Jill Roberts Institute for Research in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and the Michael Kors Professor in Immunology at Weill Cornell Medicine; and Dr. Conor Liston, Assistant Professor of Neuroscience and Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine and Assistant Attending Psychiatrist at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, discussed a number of topics.

The subjects included clinical conditions, such as depression, anxiety, learning difficulty and immune deficiency, may all arise from altered brain–gut signaling pathways; discoveries, as well as potential new forms of prevention and treatment of common conditions like diabetes, obesity and arthritis.
