Lead stylist Linh Nguyen for Cutler/Redken Salons was very excited to tell us all about working behind the scenes on the Rachel Antonoff show. The fun and flirty collection was inspired by the 1960s secretary, so Nguyen created three different looks to go with the theme, but brought it into the modern times. The three hairstyles were quite playful – half up bow, high pony tail and soft bun (with a #2 pencil in it!). While many designers stick to the ‘one hairstyle fits all’ mantra during fashion week, Rachel worked with the hair team to ensure that the hairstyles looked great on the different face shapes of the models (who, in fact, were all Broadway dancers!).
Skyn Iceland and Mac Cosmetics worked together to give the models are natural, lash-focused look for the show. Again, paying homage to the theme of the clothing, the basic look was that of the working woman, with flirty wine-stained lips and cheeks and subtle highlights.
The final details were in the nails, thanks to a team effort by Kiss, imPRESS and Miss Pop. With a total of five different nail designs, Miss Pop created whimsical nail art utilizing imPRESS Oval Manicure and Kiss Gel Strong Nail Polish. Some of the designs on the nails were taken straight from the designs on the clothing in the collection. (Oh, and it only took THREE DAYS to paint all 700 nails for the models.)
