“Be More Like Betty” mural in honor of the late and loved Betty White and her 100th birthday celebration on Monday, January 17th.
LA muralist, Corie Mattie, has created a “Be More Like Betty” mural, located on Melrose Ave., in honor of the late beloved Betty White. The mural encourages dog rescue donations, promoting a cause closest to White’s heart. The mural, which took Mattie over 15 hours to complete, also includes a QR code that gives fans an opportunity to scan to and donate directly to local dog rescue Wagmor Pets, a 501c3 based in Studio City, CA. Corie figured it would be the perfect gift back to Betty, as the Golden Girls star notoriously donated and supported animal rescues for decades. The mural is also in line with the #BettyWhiteChallenge – A hashtag that encourages people to donate to their local animal rescues and shelters.
About Wagmor Pets
Wagmor Pets is committed to rescuing, rehabilitating and finding forever homes for dogs experiencing homelessness. Their motto is simple: “If we can, we will.” Regardless of the animals condition, without regard to age, breed, gender, or ease of placement, Wagmor Pets is devoted to helping solve the issue of homelessness, placing these dogs in safe, healthy and permanent, loving homes.
About Melissa Bacelar, owner of Wagmor Pets
Melissa Bacelar is the founder of Wagmor Pets, a non-profit 501c3 organization that rescues and helps to find forever homes for dogs. She is also the owner of The Wagmor, a luxury pet hotel & spa in Valley Village, CA. Growing up in New Jersey, Bacelar found ways to help any animal in need.
Bacelar established Wagmor Pets in the midst of a pandemic in early 2020, and knew that in the wake of COVID-19, she needed to raise the bar, and that she just did. Impressively, Wagmor Pets rescued over 4,000 dogs in just 18 months. The non-profit has been supported by many, including some of Hollywood’s elite: Jennifer Anniston, Ellen DeGeneres, Miley Cyrus, Kris Jenner and Sandra Bullock, just to name a few.
The organization has many services to offer, including: volunteer opportunities, adoptions, fostering, transportation, as well as fundraising. They are currently working on expanding their menu to services to include a spay and neuter program, and will also be finding clinics for stray dogs and low income families in the near-future. Equally as important, Wagmor Pets has several partnerships to save homeless dogs, in both Thailand and China as well.
All adoptions are available on the @WagmorPets Instagram page. For more information or to donate, please visit the web site: www.wagmorpets.org
