BELLA’s Look Inside This Year’s NYCWFF


This past weekend was the 11th Annual New York City Wine and Food Festival and BELLA had some coveted tickets to this year’s hottest events. Taking place from October 11th through 14th, this giant festival isn’t just about the wine and the food — since its inception, the NYCWFF has raised over $11 million for non-profits No Kid Hungry and Food Bank for New York City. With over 80 events spanning the four day event, it’s the most gluttonous, yet satisfying festival NYC has to offer. Here’s what we tried:

A Taste of NYC: A Celebration of the City’s Most Post-Worthy Bites

This Friday night event took place at the Tommy Hilfiger flagship store in Midtown and was hosted by Man Vs. Food’s Adam Richman and Devour Power. One of the more intimate tasting events during NYCWFF, this was a great intro into the weekend’s festivities. With less crowds to meander through and virtually no lines to try each bite, it was a seamlessly run event. Four Roses Bourbon was serving shots and cocktails, while Jam Cellars was pouring Chardonnay and sparkling wine. Some of our favorite bites included the cachapas from Cachapas y Mas, the raclette burger from Flip n Toss, meatballs from Mutz A Rella, and Stromboli from Macchina. Other vendors included Set Les, Papi’s Food & Grille, and Breakroom. Everything was delicious and filling and we have definitely added each of these spots on our must-try list!

Coca-Cola Backyard BBQ

The NYCWFF’s last event on Sunday afternoon was presented by National Beef and Pat LaFrieda Meats and hosted by Billy Durney and Pat LaFrieda. Needless to say, it was one meat-tastic day! Located on the rooftop of Pier 92, this big bbq bash was what any meat-loving foodie’s dreams are made of (vegetarians need not attend). Live music played throughout the rooftop, and between all the food and drinks were some family-friendly game, pumpkin carving and painting and Photo Booth fun. Drinks were poured heavily from Blue Moon, Angry Orchard, Four Roses Bourbon, Voss Water, Modelo, Samuel Adams, Peroni, Jagermeister, and Cape Classics. Grilling stations wafted bbq scents throughout the roof, where guests could watch giant Pat LaFrieda tomahawk steaks being flipped and cooked. Attendees voted on their favorite dish of the day so that the winning restaurant could win a $5,000 prize from Coca-Cola. Surprisingly, the winner was Nick’s Lobster House, who served up grilled octopus. Other dishes included duck drumsticks, smoked ribs, brisket, pulled pork and even 24k gold pork belly. Between savory bites, guests could sweeten up their palate with treats from Shmackary’s, World’s Best Cookie Dough, Bread’s Bakery, and even try Capital One’s cotton candy ice cream treats. Nothing here was disappointing, and you were guaranteed to leave more full than you can imagine.
