Singing and playing piano since she was just seven years old, it was no surprise when a young BELLSAINT decided to pursue a career in the music industry. After performing at a Sundance Film Festival in 2014, she was granted the opportunity to write songs for a variety of accomplished artists including Natalie Imbruglia, Cloves, and Danny O’Donoghue of The Script. Her collaboration with producer/composer Giorgio Moroder was in fact placed in a Volkswagen Super Bowl commercial, which was definitely a major touchdown for the quick rising star. From there, BELLSAINT’s music began popping up all over the media. Her songs were featured in a number of popular TV shows such as Pretty Little Liars, Riverdale, Shameless, Famous In Love, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and The Vampire Diaries, just to name a few. She was even awarded the title of “Favorite New Artist” by US Weekly Magazine.

Today BELLSAINT continues to amaze her fans with original and compelling music. Her lyrics inspire listeners to be their most authentic selves, while empowering them to stand up against unethical behavior. Her single “Karma” has played an important role within the #metoo movement, and reminds women around the world that they are not alone. This October, BELLSAINT released her new EP titled Technicolor Dream which includes seven sensational songs. The tracks are vulnerable yet strong, making them an essential addition to your “powerhouse” playlist!

Excited to learn more about the blossoming artist and her music, BELLA connected with BELLSAINT herself…

What inspired you to become a singer?
I guess it kind of came naturally when I was about 5 or 6. I just loved melodies and I was always playing on our piano and singing melodies. That was my favorite way to communicate.

What was it like moving from Texas to Los Angeles, and what were some of the challenges you faced along the way?
I think leaving your comfort zone is always terrifying. Leaving Texas was definitely scary, but it forced me to grow up a lot. When I first moved to LA I didn’t know anybody, but I also feel like sometimes the best push is when you’re uncomfortable. It forces you to decide to either go with the flow or be left behind. It definitely motivated me to keep working on my craft and be the best that I could possibly be because music is so competitive.

How did you adopt the name “BELLSAINT?”
I always liked the name “Bell” and initially my artist name was just going to be “Bell,” however that’s basically impossible to find online. So I decided that I wanted to add another word to the end of it, something that was entirely made up and completely my own. Nobody had the word “BELLSAINT” and I felt that it was very feminine and empowering at the same time.

You just released your EP titled Technicolor Dream, how does it feel to finally see your vision come to life?
It feels like I finally gave birth. Like I have my baby and I get to enjoy it and hold it in my arms. It feels great. We’ve been working on this for so long and we’re really proud of how it came out. We’re excited and relieved, but there’s also a strong feeling of ‘this is just the beginning.’

What do you hope your listeners take away from your music?
I hope that people feel empowered and heard. That hearing someone else be vulnerable in their music will make them feel understood and not alone.

What would be a dream project for you?
I’ve always wanted to collaborate with Nancy Sinatra. That’s definitely a big dream of mine before I die.
