A cross between a steakhouse and a blend of Chinese/Asian fare, Brooklyn Chop House, located in the Financial District of Manhattan, combines the two cuisines to create a truly unique and one-of-a-kind dining experience.
Opening its doors on the corner of Nassau and Spruce in October 2018, owners Robert “Don Pooh” Cummins, a former music executive, along with tech entrepreneur Davis Thomas and Stratis Morfogen, a restaurateur known for his successful ventures, have created a place where there is something for everyone.
The eclectic menu features a unique dumpling selection. With choices like French Onion Soup, Lamb “gyro,” and Bacon Cheeseburger to name just a few, choosing just one seems almost impossible. The various small plate dishes include Peking Duck Tacos, Slow Roasted Short Rib Bao Buns, and Rock Shrimp Tempura, along with satays like chicken, lobster, shrimp, and double thick bacon.
For the carnivore lovers, the steak and chops selections are plentiful. A popular choice and signature BCH selection, the 32 oz prime dry-aged bone-in Tomahawk, leaves those with reservations counting down the days. In addition, the menu also features a variety of soups, house salads, chicken and fish dishes, along with a variety of tasty sides.
With a plethora of food on the menu to choose from, next up is dessert, and again, you’re going to want one of everything. Chocolate lovers are not going to be able to pass up the double height chocolate cake, and for those who prefer a red velvet, Pastry Chef Ro-Z has got you covered.
Alongside the excellent food is the restaurant’s ambiance and interior. Accompanying the floor to ceiling velvet curtains and crisp white table linens are the sounds of hip-hop music playing in the background. A former music executive himself, Don Pooh pays homage to his friend, the late great rapper Biggie Smalls, by incorporating his lyrics into the décor.
All of these elements of Brooklyn Chop House make for a unique dining experience, whether it’s for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Before you walk out the door, you will be thinking ahead to what you’re going to order the next time you’re here!
