Chelsea’s Newest Restaurant Makes Its Debut

On the corner of 19th Street and 8th Avenue, Loulou Petit Bistro & Speakeasy has opened its doors right in the heart of Chelsea. The vibrant and action-packed neighborhood welcomed its newest neighbor, and once you step inside, you’ll feel like you’re right at home.

Named after owner Mathias Van Leyden’s adorable rescue pup, this cozy French bistro is serving up lunch, brunch, and dinner seven days a week while the lower level speakeasy, accessible from both inside the restaurant, and outside through a vintage Coca-Cola vending machine, offers guests an extensive cocktail menu filled with unique options, and an intimate, yet lively atmosphere.

Floor to ceiling windows allow for a flood of natural light and the chance for diners to catch a sneak peak of the interior any time of day. The exposed brick along with unique decorations and art curated by Missy Papageorge, give Loulou’s interior a warm and welcoming feel. The restaurant also boasts a semi-private area complete with a fireplace, making it the perfect spot for special occasion celebrations or larger party get-togethers.

When it comes to the food, Executive Chef Jarett Brodie, who has cooked in some of the best NYC restaurants, is taking classic French fare to a whole new level. Specialty dishes include delicacies such as Whole Grilled Branzino, Sea Scallops, Charred Octopus, Duck Leg Confit, flatbreads, along with Charcuterie and Cheese boards.

Loulou’s brunch signatures include Smoked Salmon, a Croissant French Toast, and The Loulou Burger and Eggs Benedict. With all of the dishes he creates, Chef Brodie blends local seasonal ingredients and believes in highlighting great products with a minimalist approach, allowing each one of these ingredients to shine on their own.

To top of your dining experience, the restaurant features an extensive cocktail menu created by Zane Harris and Arpan Duttaroy. Along with beer, wine, and champagne selections, specialty cocktails like the Butterfly Martini and Mexican Stiletto are visually stunning as they are tasty.
