A few months into the pandemic, I let myself go completely. My overall health was feeling the brunt of it, so as the new year ushered in, I put self-care at the top of my priority list.
As I am sure you already know, you cannot give from an empty vessel. Your body is your most precious one. I hope these resources help you come back to yourself. I know they did for me.
1. YOGA FROM PELOTON
I have been practicing yoga for about four years now. With yoga from Peloton, you can reach for more on the mat with the guidance of their world-class instructors. The range of teaching styles and training is suitable for anyone wanting to begin their own journey to self through a yoga practice.
2. PAVLOK 3
Invented in 2013, Pavlok uses the principles of Pavlovian conditioning to bring awareness to and change bad habits. The device is unique because it not only tracks what you do, but is designed to help change what you do. With the push of a button, it uses vibrations, chimes, or—if those stimuli don’t work—a mild electric snap to alert you to a negative habit and create an aversion to it. Its mission is to help wearers improve their daily lives.
3. ZYIA ACTIVEWEAR
ZYIA is an active lifestyle brand. It is also a culture that believes in embracing activity with excitement, vigor, and delight. With their mission to inspire and uplift by making activity a fun and essential part of life, as is founder Cheryl Devine’s goal with her business DVine Consulting, I couldn’t be happier.
4. THE PEER GROUP PLASTIC SURGERY
Botox?! Yes, please! And Dr. Starker at The Peer Group for Plastic Surgery in Florham Park, NJ, should be your go-to. Injectables are such a personal decision, and I have always been concerned with looking too overdone. Nothing beats aesthetic professionals who take their time to walk you through the entire process and who respect your wishes for softening aging lines. My facial rejuvenation experience was absolutely fabulous, and this downtime has been the perfect time to get it done.
5. CREATIVE COLLABORATIONS WITHMY ETTWOMEN COMMUNITY
Collaborations with other women actually help us all come out as stronger individuals. It’s what I remembered when I worked with Doreen Laskiewicz, also a BELLA photography contributor. We’ve wanted to work together for some time. After undergoing a life-changing surgery and health battle, I felt like a more vibrant version of myself. Looking through the images she took of me at the charming Legacy at Byron Barn in Plainsboro NJ, I was able to find new appreciation for not only my self-care journey, but also how far BELLA has come despite this challenging year.
