La Sirena may be known as Mario Batali’s must-try Italian destination, located within the Maritime Hotel in Chelsea, but those looking for something other than pasta can score big here, too.
Within La Sirena’s barroom and their immense patio, diners can enjoy smaller plates with Spanish flare courtesy of the Tapas Bar, headed by chef Anthony Sasso. Dishes like the Patatas Bravas—a classic Spanish staple—infuse island flavor that pairs wonderfully with their frozen cocktail Bedtime for Bonzo. (It got its name for a reason!)
Each dish here is better than the last, with fresh, buttery scallops to make you salivate, crispy pork belly that you’ll down in seconds, and plentiful amounts of paella that will make you want to book a flight to Spain. We knew Batali could run circles around most chefs with his Italian ingenuity, but taking on tapas using Italian influences combines the best of his work, merging what diners love about Babbo and Casa Mono into a newer, trendier destination.
