A hidden gem in Manhattan’s lower east side, Red Compass is a family-owned eatery that serves up traditional Georgian and European cuisine. With influences from both Europe and Middle Eastern culinary traditions, guests will find the atmosphere intimate and cozy with live music on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Feast on traditional dishes from the different regions, and — for cheese lovers — Adjaruli Khachapuri is a must. With the use of traditional herbs and spices, Georgian cuisine is heavy on their meat dishes but offer a wide variety of vegetarian as well. A separate garden room features a touch of Georgia, from the clay pots used to serve meals to the large selection of wines in a winery-inspired room that’s the perfect option for private parties and special events. And with Georgia serving as one of the oldest wine regions in the world, wine tastings pay homage to the country and introduce their native wines and culture to NYC.
