For the last ten years, right before the hustle and bustle of the holidays begin, I head to Atlantic City with a bunch of girlfriends for a weekend whisk-away that always includes spending Saturday afternoon at the spa. This year we set our sights on Qua Baths and Spa at Caesars. Signature Roman Rituals are the draw, bringing the traditions of the glorious baths of ancient Rome to modern times. Qua’s Roman Baths consist of three distinct pools varying in both temperature and size and are included with any spa treatment. The rituals include herbal steam rooms, dry sauna, hot and cold plunge pools, whirlpool and relaxation lounge.
My Qua therapist was Lorraine and boy did I hit the jackpot! She was one of the most skilled and intuitive massage therapists I have ever encountered. Ever. If you can get to Caesars on a weekend (Lorraine works Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and some holidays) I highly recommend you request her. She has 25 years of experience and massaged the likes of many celebrities over the years, including Frankie Valli, Kathy Hilton–even heavyweight boxer Chazz Witherspoon. She said she was thrilled to add “Janene Mascarella” to her resume (really?!) and asked me if I was ready to get treated like a princess. (Oh yes, yes, yes!)
So after soaking in the baths for a little while, I indulged in the Lava Melt Massage (75 mins, $220)—a treatment that uses a natural therapeutic infused candle (you get to pick your fave scent!) that melts into a warm, silky aromatherapy massage oil. The warm, melted wax slowly tricking down my back literally sent chills up my spine–it was over-the-top blissful. When your service was over, you get to take the candle with and you’re encouraged to try this at home. Will do!
