If you’re looking for a great weekend whisk away, this is truly a spectacular place! I recently spent some time there, I hit the pool, the spa and the slots and it was a WIN WIN, for sure!
Situated on 185 acres along the Thames River in scenic southeastern Connecticut, Mohegan Sun is home to three unique casinos, 1,600 deluxe hotel rooms, 2 world-class spas, a golf course, over 90 shops, restaurants and bars as well as three award-winning entertainment venues including a 10,000-seat Arena.
Mohegan Sun is within easy access of New York, Boston, Hartford and Providence and located 15 minutes from the museums, antique shops and waterfront of Mystic Country.
The Spa
Let’s start with my favorite…the spa! At MANDARA SPA at Mohegan Sun (Connecticut), science and nature dance together in perfect harmony. The Mandara experience began on the spiritual island of Bali, inspired by the beautiful tradition of healing touches which is deeply immersed within the culture and passed on from mother to daughter from generation to generation. These time-honored therapies, combined with European methods and natural elements indigenous to Bali, meld together to provide the most unique and indulgent spa treatments. The name Mandara comes from a Sanskrit legend about the gods’ quest to find the secret to eternal youth and beauty. At this Mohegan Sun oasis, you will unlock the secret when you experience a timeless Mandara moment. The spa is pure luxury. I doubled down with the FIRE & ICE MASSAGE. The customized, ice-cool muscle massage complemented with heated Basalt stones was just beyond.
Gaming
Those who think “dark” and “smoky” when they think of casinos are in for a pleasant surprise at Mohegan Sun! With three themed casinos under one roof, more than 5,000 slot machines and over 300 table games to remain immersed, the all-encompassing destination is one of the largest and most exciting casino-resorts on the East Coast. The casino includes more than 300,000-square-feet of gaming excitement with smoke-free areas, classic games and high-tech entertainment like the Fusion Hybrid table system, and a state-of-the-art Race Book where guests can place their bet and collect winnings while sitting in front of several jumbo screen TVs for a true track-side experience. Additionally, Mohegan Sun recently rolled out its new DUO Blackjack Lounge inside the Casino of the Wind, where couples/pairs can sit down and play together in plush seats with table-side cocktail service – perfect for date night or beginners who want to learn with friends!

The Shops at Mohegan Sun features more than 75 restaurants, retail outlets and lounges and offers visitors the ultimate in national brands, a wide selection of one-of-a-kind treasures, fine apparel, antiques, jewelry, custom furniture, crafts and handcrafted Native American goods. It is a 130,000 square-foot, two-story dining and shopping pavilion that connects Casino of the Sky to Casino of the Earth. Its breathtaking setting was designed by The Rockwell Group and features a towering Tree of Life and a trail that depicts the Mohegan Tribe’s historic journey from upper state New York to Connecticut.
The Shops at Mohegan Sun also brings to life Mohegan Sun’s exciting nightlife The Lansdowne Irish Pub & Music House and AVALON Night Club, one of Connecticut’s most exclusive night clubs with available VIP seating throughout.
