Annual Event Lets Adults Be Campers for the Day to Cultivate Skills from Archery to Yoga

Back by popular demand, Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts (www.usdan.org) today announced the lineup for its annual Usdan University, an adult-only full day of summer camp, which will be held on Friday, July 15th. For $85 per person, grown-ups can once again “camp” out at Usdan, participating in classes, watching special performances, and enjoying various treats throughout the day.

The 2016 Usdan University classes include:
- Broadway Jazz Dance: For Broadway babies and wannabes to bring their dancing feet
- Digital Photography:
Photographic composition and presentation on Mac computers - Hand-Building Ceramics:
An experiment with hand-forming in ceramic design - Metalsmithing: A popular hands-on class to create jewelry using various techniques
- Musical Theater:
A class in acting, speech, movement, voice, theatrical expression and improvisation - Organic Gardening: A session to cultivate a green thumb – and create a personal herb garden
- Painting: Tap that inner Picasso in this class painting with acrylics and/or pastels
- Potter’s Wheel Ceramics: An opportunity for a turn at the Potter’s Wheel
- Simple Summer Foods: An exploration of flavorful recipes with Chef Richard LaMarita
The day is rounded out with afternoon activities including Chorus, Nature Walk, Archery, Yoga or an optional swim in Usdan’s pool.
Usdan University is the annual one-day offering for adults – part of the nationally acclaimed summer arts day camp. All programs will take place at the camp’s magnificent 140-acre woodland campus, located at 185 Colonial Springs Road in Wheatley Heights, NY. Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts (http://www.usdan.org) nearly 70 programs in music, dance, theater, visual arts, creative writing, nature, recreation and chess, annually hosting more than 1,400 students from towns throughout the New York City metro area. Open to all young people from age 4 to 18, no audition is needed for most courses, and transportation is provided in air-conditioned buses that depart from most New York-area neighborhoods. One-third of Usdan’s students receive scholarship assistance based on family need or merit. Although the mission of Usdan is for every child to establish a relationship with the arts, the unique stimulation of the campus has caused many to go on to arts careers. Alumni include members of Broadway shows and major music, theater, and dance ensembles such as the Boston Pops and the New York City Ballet. Usdan is an agency of the UJA-Federation of New York.
