In the past few years, canned cocktails and alcoholic beverages have seen a steady increase in popularity. While years ago, you might get a raised eyebrow or two from cocktail enthusiasts for opting for a canned cocktail as opposed to one meticulously made at home or at a bar, now it’s as common cracking open a beer. And now with quarantine, convenience is key. More and more people are turning toward canned beverages when they are looking to indulge. Parents don’t have time to whip up the perfect old-fashioned after working a full day and taking care of their children. Singles in the city don’t want to open an entire bottle of wine just to have one glass at the end of a long day. So now, more than ever, people are turning towards canned beverages to get their fix. Here are some you should stock up on:
14 Hands Unicorn Rosé Bubbles – Don’t be fooled by the pink and unicorn clad can, this is indeed a drink for grown ups. The limited edition rosé is comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah grapes, with notes of red fruit flavors. The bubbly wine is the perfect outdoor drink, but be careful — one can equals half a bottle of wine, so it can sneak up on you!
Rosé All Day Spritz – From the company that brought you affordable rosé wine comes a new iteration of summer’s favorite sip in the form of a light, refreshing spritz. The organic beverage is comprised of rosé, bubbles and grapefruit, giving drinkers an incredibly easy-to-drink cocktail for warm summer days. Clocking in at only 75 calories, with less than 1.5 grams of sugar, it also makes for a healthier drinking option than most alternatives, and packs as much alcohol as a beer. Plus, the grapefruit flavor is subtle enough that anyone who isn’t usually a fan of its bitter taste need not worry. It’s definitely one of our favorites, and it’s gluten-free to boot!
Wild Tonic Hard Jun Kombucha – This isn’t the first hard kombucha I’ve tried and it certainly won’t be the last. Like the traditional, non-alcoholic kombucha, it provides all of the health benefits you’ve come to associate with it, including prebiotics, probiotics, amino acids and antioxidants, plus it’s low in calories. And with jun kombucha, you don’t get that vinegar kick often associated with kombucha, because instead of cane sugar, it’s made with honey, making it delicious and smooth. Alcoholic flavors include blackberry mint, tropical turmeric, hoppy buzz, wild love, dancing naked, backwoods bliss and mind spank. It is available at stores nationwide, and is able to ship within Arizona. (They also make killer non-alcoholic kombucha, which is also currently available nationwide.)
Fishers Island Lemonade – This refreshing lemonade cocktail originated at the Pequot Inn up on Fishers Island, New York. The female-founded cocktail has been perfecting the canned cocktail game since 2014, featuring premium distilled vodka, whiskey, lemon and honey, culminating in a sweet summer sipper. Clocking in at 9% ABV, it’s no joke, and with gluten removed, it’s accessible to everyone. Plus, it’s an awesome addition to many cocktails.
Rosé Water – The first hybrid featuring dry rosé wine and sparkling water, this new rosé spritzer is perfectly refreshing for hot beach or pool days, and ideal for those who prefer something dry over something sweet. Comprised of a blend of Pinot Noir, Gamay and Cabernet Franc grapes from France, the rosé fuses perfectly with the sparkling water sourced from the Austrian Alps. Clocking in at 69 calories, with no added anything, this clean drink is 4.9% ABV, contains zero sugars and is gluten-free, vegan and non-GMO. Plus, 5% of all Rosé Water profits are donated to Cape Fear River Watch.
Cutwater Cucumber Vodka Soda – If a spa day had a baby with a summer holiday, it would be this refreshing cucumber cocktail. Cutwater Spirits has an array of award-winning liquors and they are one of the earlier pioneers of canned cocktails. Comprised of their vodka, soda water and a hint of cucumber, this is one of our favorites from their portfolio. A can only sets you back 99 calories and at 5% ABV, it’s the perfect summer sip.
Strainge Beast Bluberry, Acai & Sweet Basil Kombucha – Brought to you by beer powerhouse Sierra Nevada comes their newly launched line of hard kombuchas. With three unique flavors currently on the market, this one took top accolades from us. With 7% ABV it’s a little boozier than your average beer, and also has the health benefits of a regular kombucha. What could be better? Oh, and the cans feature super fun artwork.
Rekorderlig Pear Cider – Jumping in on the low-cal bandwagon, Swedish cider brand Rekorderlig recently debuted their new, lower sugar, lower calorie hard cider. After two years of meticulous research, the company is proud to release an array of cider flavors that have 70% less sugar and only 110 calories. What?! It’s not too good to be true, the ciders taste delicious. With flavors like Strawberry-Lime, Mango-Raspberry, Passionfruit, Wild Berries, and our favorite, pear, this new iteration of cider is a must for the summer.
LQD Hard Passion Fruit Green Tea – Yes, you can now get your antioxidants and your booze on, too. LQD makes an array of healthier for you boozy beverages, including hard green teas, lemonades, and limeades. We love adding in some sparkling water to these cocktails to add some extra refreshing bubbles to the mix. Especially great for those who are a little more health conscious, these are truly unique and contain no added sugars or artificial ingredients.
Volley Sharp Grapefruit – Brand new to the spiked seltzer scene, Volley comes to you with three clean ingredients — 100% blue agave tequila, sparkling water and organic juice. This new iteration of a tequila soda contains zero additives and no fake sugars, making it one of the cleaner options currently on the market. Created by a husband and wife duo, Volley comes in four flavors (Zesty Lime, Spicy Ginger, and Tropical Mango are the other three), all of which run between 100-110 calories per can. Plus, the company has partnered with Leave No Trace, a non-profit that provides resources for people to protect and enjoy our natural world. Through the partnership, they fund and organize clean ups of public spaces and make direct donations.
Hochstadter’s Slow & Low Rock and Rye – If you’re on the hunt for something a little more boozy, Slow & Low’s canned old fashioned really packs a punch. This very impressive cocktail uses high quality ingredients, including aged straight rye whiskey, honey, orange bitters and rock candy, to bring you that classic bar cocktail right to your home. Clocking in at 84 proof, these cans wisely come in a cute 100mL can that is best enjoyed over ice. You’ll feel like you’re right at your favorite bar sipping one of these. Additionally, the brand has been working with local accounts in NJ, TX, IL, FL and TN to purchase meals for out-of-work hospitality employees and their families.
