Esta Crompton, the CEO, founder, and mind behind Estala Skincare, spent her life envying and appreciating the beauty industry but didn’t realize how important a role it would play in her life until her world was changed forever. On March 6, 1987, Esta fell victim to a devastating, and almost fatal, drunk driving accident, which left her face unrecognizable and seemingly irreparable. For more than two decades Esta spent her days in and out of surgery, to no avail, until finally meeting one plastic surgeon, Dr. Diana Elias, who changed her life, mended the damages done to her face, and introduced her to the world of reparative and restorative skincare.
Today, Estala Skincare is formulated with some of the market’s most effective, gentle, and advantageous ingredients—and with proven results, as Esta herself is the spokesmodel for the miraculous effects. BELLA chatted with Esta about her heartening journey into the beauty industry, the entire Estala Skincare line, and the many other products she offers.
Your story is so moving; thank you for sharing it with us. Tell us what that moment was like when you finally found someone who could help give you your life back and the moment you decided you would pursue skincare to help serve others the way you were helped.
Dr. Diana Elias gave me my life back, which ultimately gave me closure. After years of surgery with another doctor who stopped doing this type of work, I found her and had my final two surgeries. After that, I was able to take pictures with my family and friends again without having to explain my accident each time.
Although my plastic surgery had been completed, I still was left with facial scarring. I set out on a journey to feel confident in my own skin again. I worked with dozens of doctors and tried countless products. Eventually, I came to the realization that I had to do this myself with the help of Dr. Elias. I worked with a pharmacist to develop skincare formulas that actually worked.
As I used these products, my skin finally began to heal properly. When people started to comment on how youthful I looked for 60 years old, I knew I was onto something.
I wanted others to be able to experience the benefits of these wonderful products; that is why I founded Estala Skin Care.
My accident made me who and what I am today. I love life and people. You can say that my accident saved my life. I wouldn’t be here telling my story, where my life was going from growing up with not much money, my abused childhood from my stepfather, and choosing wrong lifetime partners.
Walk us through the Estala Skincare line and the different skincare products you offer. Do you have a favorite or most popular product?
Our skincare line includes both an acne and anti-aging line. The anti-aging line is the one I personally use and that healed my scarring. I use the whole line, but I love the texture of the Cell Repair Serum, which pairs with our derma roller perfectly to tighten pores and smooth out my skin. Thee C0Q10 Cream makes my skin glow, and the Toning Cleanser is a personal favorite as it works as a 2-in-1 toner and cleanser eliminating they extra product and leaving my skin feeling refreshed. The Revitalizing Eye Cream is popular as it helps with dark circles and under eye bags, which I know many people deal with!
Could you share the benefits of your ingredients and why they are so effective?
All my products are cruelty free, with high-quality, natural ingredients. Our Acne Stop System has some key ingredients, such as Niacinamide (also known as Vitamin B3), which has anti-inflammatory properties, helps to shrink pores, and evens out skin tone. We also use salicylic acid, which works to slow down sebum and relieves clogged pores and blackheads.
Our Revitalizing Eye Cream is formulated with our special Eyebright extract. Eyebright contains flavonoids and tannins that have antioxidant benefits and protect skin from premature fine lines and wrinkles. Eyebright can also help decrease the appearance of dark circles and inflammation.
Another product that I am particularly excited about is our new Age Defying Retinol Mask, which works to replenish, tighten, and rejuvenate mature or damaged skin. It contains both green tea and Coenzyme Q, which are potent antioxidants that also support collagen production for healthy, fresh-feeling skin.
