Fly In Style With JetBlue Mint

A well traveled friend of mine just returned from a jaunt where she got some R & R amid a stylish ambiance with scrumptious food, fine wine and entertainment galore. It turns out she flew JetBlue’s Mint service, which sounds like a destination unto itself. I had been hearing a lot of buzz about “Mint.” JetBlue’s premium product offers lie-flat seating plus curated food and amenities at a much lower cost than business class on other transcontinental carriers.

JetBlue Mint Main Cabin

When JetBlue recently announced an expansion of their Mint service to new cities and Caribbean destinations, previously only available on JFK to Los Angeles and San Francisco routes, I thought it was time to try it out. I booked a JetBlue Mint flight from JFK to Los Angeles and was impressed with the expedited check in, screening, boarding and hospitality. The moment I entered the select area designated for Mint, my luggage was whisked away by an attendant.

There’s plenty of legroom and storage area – even a place for shoes. Love that massage function!

Simply put Mint is in a league of its own. It’s a refreshing take on business class. Think cool with a clubby vibe that’s both laid back and luxe. After boarding I sat down in my cushy seat and was served the pre-departure cocktail: a honey infused limeade with fresh mint and vodka plus a splash of club soda. As I sipped the lovely libation the gentleman across from me, a music producer, remarked “ Mint offers the best premium service of all the domestic carriers. It’s the only way to fly.”

JetBlue Private Mint Suite

Planes are configured with 16 spacious business class lie flat seats with plenty of legroom, good size storage compartments, a massage function and adjustable cushions. The coveted single seats known as Mint Suites ( same price as other Mint seats ) come with closeable doors. They are the only private suites among US airlines.

Luxe Hayward-Hopper Amenity Kits for Men and Women

This past November Mint glammed up with chic new custom designed amenity kits by New York City luxury brand, Hayward and Hopper. Plush pillows, soft blankets and eyeshades are provided for a seamless journey to dreamland. I especially liked the Wake Me button; you can relax, lie down and drift off without missing the meal.

Delish Dishes

If you haven’t felt gastronomic delight high in the sky, you’re in for a treat with the culinary wizardly of JetBlue Mint. The meals, catered by acclaimed New York Restaurant Saxon + Parole, are my favorite part of the flight. You can choose three options from the delish dishes.

Delectable turkey chili with, tomatoes, avocado and cotija cheese                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         My brunch started with a welcome taste – a yummy Spanish omelet with red pepper, coulis, garlic, aioli and chives. Then onto delectable turkey chili with avocado and cotija cheese, scrambled egg and chicken sausage with tomatoes, mushrooms and cheddar cheese in a basil tortilla plus to die for banana French toast and fresh berries with tamarind caramel, chili yogurt and maple syrup.

The wine was superb.

This was paired with a lovely Brea Margarita Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, 2013 Paso Robles chosen by Jet Blue’s notable wine expert – Jon Bonne. For dessert a seasonal fruit plate, organic Blue Marble spiced cider sorbet and a strong cappuccino were pure bliss. There’s more! Cookies and a brownie made a sweet parting gift from New York City-based bakery Mah-ze-Dahr.

Tasty fresh fruit with organic Blue Marble spiced cider sorbet – yum!

A new system with 15 inch screens offering myriad movies, Direct TV, Sirius XM Radio and Fly-Fi internet ensure an entertainment filled trip. Did I mention the impeccable service from the friendly and attentive crew?

Entertainment Galore.

New cities offering Mint service in addition to New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco include Boston, Seattle, Las Vegas, San Diego and Fort Lauderdale, launching early 2017 through 2018. JetBlue’s Mint expansion to new Caribbean Destinations include seasonal service to St. Maarten and St. Lucia, along with continued service to Barbados and Aruba.

Sweet Dreams with JetBlue Mint.

The Bottom Line: The service is fantastic, affordable and great value for money. I can’t wait to fly JetBlue Mint again.
