Home for the Holidays

Highly recognized for blending vintage and modern décor styles in a timeless fashion with a strong sense of individuality, architectural and interior designer Douglas Graneto is recognized for his ability to create a juxtaposition between vintage and modern. The result: timeless, livable environments that are both stunning and sophisticated.

This recent project was for a young couple with children who were moving to Greenwich, Connecticut.  “The entire home is filled with lots of custom embroidery and furniture,” says Graneto. “Some of the most notable things are the antique Chinese paper on the ceiling, as well as their budding art collection. The photo above the fireplace is James Nars; the Jackie O piece is Andy Warhol.”

Living Room – The center daybed is a custom piece using Holly Hunt fabric and Holland & Sherry pillow fabric. The wing chair is upholstered with Madeline Weinrib fabric. The arm chair is with Romo fabric. The table is Victoria & Sons. The drapery is Holland & Sherry fabric. The art is Andy Warhol, and the rug is Beauvais Carpets.

Dining Room – The dining table is a vintage piece atop a black/white patterned rug from Stark Carpets. The chairs were pre-owned by the client and repainted. The Chandelier is from Rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The light sconces are vintage, and the drapery is made of Holland & Sherry fabric.

Bar Room – The burnt orange sofa is a custom piece with Old World Weavers fabric. The lamp next to it is Galerie des Lampes from David Iatesta. The coffee table is Gracie. The ceiling is covered in antique tea paper from Gracie, and the rug and club chairs were pre-owned by the client.

Blue Room – This room is used as an office. It has blue walls that are gentian plaster with nailhead detail and a brown custom sofa made with Clarence House fabric. The wood table is vintage. The bar and the and irons are vintage items from Antique & Artisan in Stamford, CT.

The Designer: Douglas Graneto is principal of Douglas Graneto Design, a luxury boutique design firm founded in 2006 in Greenwich, Connecticut, that specializes in residential and commercial commissions in addition to quality crafted custom products and furnishings.
