While our Fall 2020 Fashion Issue featuring Tyson Beckford is heating up the presses, I had the pleasure of chatting with creative director and celebrity stylist Jason Bolden to talk about navigating a new world of virtual styling and remote work from his at-home studio.
Jason has worked with some pretty amazing A-list celebs. Alicia Keys hosting the Grammys, Yara Shahidi in her radiant Carolina Herrera dress at the Golden Globes, or Cynthia Erivo’s angelic gown at the Oscars? Yep, the iaw-dropping looks are all credited to Jason Bolden! He has also worked withTaraji P. Henson, Serena Williams, Wiz Khalifa …the list of his celebrity clientele goes on and on.

But he took the time out of his busy schedule to hop on a Zoom meeting with me to fill me in on how he has been staying creative and inspired during this unprecedented time of covid-19. (This was so enjoyable because he was just so sweet, charming and so fun to chat with!)
Jason’s creativity + boosting essentials all revolve around the Galaxy Note20 family, the most powerful Note line yet; Tab S7 and S7+, versatile tablets for productivity and creativity; Galaxy Watch3, a premium smartwatch; and the Galaxy Buds Live, stylish and ergonomic earbuds with amazing sound quality.
These devices work together seamlessly so you can maximize work and play. And as we navigate our new realities of working from home, we’re relying on our tech more and more to help remain creative and productive.
On our Zoom call, Jason gave me a peek into his world and showed me some sketches right from his Galaxy Note that he worked on for the most recent Met Gala along with some other sketches of his most iconic celebrity looks he has created for red carpet events.
We chatted about how his work is changing and how Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem is helping him stay on top of it all.
And right in time for fashion season The Galaxy Note20 is available now in a chic and stylish Mystic Bronze color to match the Galaxy Buds Live, Galaxy Watch3 and Galaxy Tab S7. Whether you’re balancing work, school, or wellness, the new Galaxy ecosystem can help you stay smart and stylish at the same time. The perfect combo of beauty and brains!
So how is Jason utilizing all this new gear and navigating fashion season in the midst of this new normal?
“Technology is my connection to my loved ones and clients,” he said. “It’s how I’m able to stay in touch and maintain relationships with designers and talent because we’re unable to meet face to face right now.”
The silver lining is that he’s able to take the time to reconnect with industry connections and clients.
Here, he gives us the rundown of his process:
“I’m working with talent on a new look, it starts with one idea that I’ll capture and send using my Note20 Ultra. From there, it’s a collaborative process and we’ll go back and forth to finalize the details. That’s how fashion styling works for my clients. We’ll start with a look on the phone and then I’ll pick up the Tab S7+ to go bigger. I need a larger screen to see and feel all of the details. Fashion styling is step-by-step. You start with a sketch and then you finalize the fabric, the embellishments, the color, the jewelry. When I use the tablet I’m able to build it out even more so it’s larger than life!”
Before ending our chat , Jason told me he’s been talking to a lot of his fashion industry friends – including styists and creatives and this kind of seamlessly technology and capabilities he unequivocally touts as THE NEW. THE NOW, THE NEXT.
