How do we know New York City is the most awesome city in the world?
It’s the setting of the most awesome gang in television history: Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor), Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders), Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan), Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel), and Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris). The CBS show {How I Met Your Mother} is the comedy show to watch after we said goodbye to Friends. NYC is showcased in the series as a remarkable city despite its imperfections, and the characters love it so much they repeatedly vowed never to want to live anywhere else. The streets of NYC as depicted in the show makes us feel there’s more to discover other than what we already experienced so far.
So we’ve seen (and re-seen) all the HIMYM episodes, and when you think about it there were pretty cool scenes which were not in New York. For a change, we’re going to feature just that—Favorite HIMYM episodes outside NYC:
1. Atlantic City (Season 2 Episode 8) – To refresh your memory, there was a time when Lily and Marshall decided to elope to {Atlantic City}, New Jersey. There was an 18-minute bachelor party thrown by Barney, and everything was going well until it was discovered that a marriage license in NJ has a waiting period of three days. They could’ve avoided the situation if they hitched to Vegas instead; an {Elvis Chapel} will do the trick for them hassle-free. After the wedding they can all book themselves into ARIA for dinner and later they can try their favorite casino games like blackjack, slots, poker or roulette. If their timing’s perfect, the Cirque du Soleil might even be performing. A nightcap for the boys and a massage for the girls at the spa will be the perfect way to end the evening. Pretty sure they’d wish this was home.
2. The Best Man (Season 7 Episode 1) – More popularly known as “Punchy’s Wedding”, the gang went to Ted’s hometown in Cleveland where Ted shall be the Best Man. It’s hilarious how Marshall and Lily resorted to antics in order to hide the fact that Lily’s already pregnant. Robin was struggling about her feelings for Barney, and that sensational dance number they did was amazing. Ted wasn’t the perfect Best Man then, but he seemed to get the hang of it in a snippet showing Barney’s wedding where he was also Best Man.
3. Good Crazy (Season 7 Episode 22) – Barney and Ted were having girl troubles: Barney’s coping with his girlfriend’s unorthodox occupation, and Ted can’t get Robin out of his mind. The biggest problem, however, was Marshall’s pre-baby idiosyncrasies. Lily therefore sent him off to Atlantic City with Barney, who again wore the controversial Ducky Tie. In a mad daze we see Marshall tossing poker chips to the casino floor, where back home Lily was already in labor.
