Inside Balthazar Getty’s Successful Launch Of His First Retail Store & Clothing Monk Punk

On June 19, people from distinct backgrounds and ages arrived at Fairfax Avenue in LA in search of the two M’s: Mode and Music. Balthazar Getty, and his extensive list of VIP guests, came together to celebrate the successful launch of his first retail store and menswear collection, Monk Punk. Based on his own hip-hop music and art, for Getty, fashion and music have always been intrinsically intertwined. They have also served as the platform upon which the artist has been able to commit to a variety of philanthropic efforts including, The Lunchbox Fund, GiveLove.org, Big U’s Developing Options program, and his family’s joint upstart, The Getty Foundation. Once again, fashion saves lives.

Notable attendees of the event included David Arquette, Soleil Moonfrye, Rebecca Gayheart and Rosetta Getty among others.

MONK PUNKis just the most recent addition to Getty’s ever-growing list of creative endeavours. An award-winning actor, producer, designer and philanthropist, Balthazar Getty set his sights on Hollywood at a very young age when he starred in the film adaptation of the Nobel Prize-winning novel Lord of The Flies. He was later drawn into the music industry through the LA hip-hop scene where he DJ’ed alongside the Beastie Boys.

In recent years, this Renaissance man has continued to pursue a diverse portfolio of passions.  Just recently, Getty released his hypnotic new single “Wack,” featuring hip-hop artist 3XDOSE. Following the releases of his previously luxury anthems, “Money” and “Retail Therapy,” “Wack” is imbued with designer-heavy lyrics layered over a catchy, rhythmic beat. For Getty, music is the medium through which we can scape this hectic world and ultimately, all of our worries.

Moving forward, Getty’s love for fashion and design will remain constant. Using Purplehaus as a platform, he intends to release the high-end conceptual ready-to-wear, Monk Punk.
