On Saturday August 17, a hushed silence fell over 300 invitees as all-round boss lady and multitalented artist Alexa Ray Joel took the stage. Performing at Northwell’s first Summer Hamptons Evening, the air was thick with apprehension for an evening dedicated in support of Northwell’s Katz Institute for Women’s Health.

The event was held at the emblematic location in Water Mill, at the residence of Victoria Moran-Furman, who hosted alongside presenting sponsors Iris and Saul Katz, the benefactors of the Katz Institute for Women’s Health – and celebrity event planner Larry Scott of Lawrence Scott Events.
The evening began with a poignant toast as Northwell President and CEO Michael Dowling expressed the many ways in which the Katz Institute has distinguished itself as a national leader in women’s health.
“The only way to ensure that our communities are healthy is to incorporate into everything we do the knowledge that women and men are different down to a cellular level,” he said. “Funds raised directly benefit important research and programs that will advance and continue to transform treatment and care for women.”
In a similar fashion, Stacey Rosen, MD senior vice president of women’s health at Northwell, shared the uniqueness of women’s health issues and the disparities women experience in their medical care.
“Women are grossly underrepresented in clinical research,” she said. “This means that we make discoveries about prevention, diagnosis and treatment on men and assume the results are the same for women. But at the Katz Institute, we are disrupting this practice. We see women’s health differently and are shaping the future of healthcare for women and their families.”
After toasting to the future of women’s health and to the leaders bringing about this change, notable attendees enjoyed live music as they sipped on carefully curated cocktails and indulged in delicious hors d’oeuvre.
At the end of the night, guests made their own contribution by donating $575,000 to help Northwell pioneer solutions that address women’s specific health needs through individualized, integrated care at locations across the metropolitan area — from Manhattan to Montauk. The evening was emceed by Rosanna Scotto, co-host of Fox 5’s Good Day New York.
Additional sponsors for the evening included: Premier Sponsor American Securities Foundation/Michael G. Fisch; Champion Sponsors Michael Kors Collection, Lipsay Family Charitable Foundation, and Iris & Michael Smith; Trailblazer Sponsors Christie & Bob Donaldson, Diana & Paul Frank, MD, Wendy Wilshin & Ronald Dickerman, Stephanie & Ian Ginsberg, Elizabeth & Paul Greenbaum, Phyllis & William Mack, Castlerock Asset Management, Paul Hastings LLP, Deborah & Scott Rechler, and Judith & Fred Wilpon.
