Secret Smoothie Recipes From The Bella Team

Here at BELLA, we take health and looking good very seriously. To meet both goals, smoothies are the answer – they help avoid carb cravings, deliver a quick burst of energy, provide a serious timesaver in the morning, and are an effortless way to get in a daily dose of nutritious fresh fruits and/or vegetables. We gathered up some easy-to-make smoothie recipes that are favorites from our team, so get out that blender and blend!

Smoothie Tips:

Use frozen fruit; make it yourself by chopping up fresh fruit and freezing it on a tray for an hour, then transfer to a zip lock bag. New non-dairy milks abound in the dairy case; try oat, walnut, almond, hemp, macadamia, coconut, soy, rice or hazelnut. Don’t forget to throw in some healthy fats like avocado, seeds and nut butters and remember not to use too much liquid – smoothies should be thick and creamy.

Spinach & Banana Smoothie

Sharing my favorite, a spinach and banana smoothie. While anything green can be intimidating, this smoothie is so easy to make and a super energy booster in the mornings.

  • 1 medium banana
  • 1 handful of spinach (or 3/4 cup)
  • 4 ice cubes
  • Water (a little less than 1/2 cup)

Blend the banana, spinach, and ice cubes first for about 1-2 minutes, and check if it’s too thick. If so then add the water. Some great substitutions to replace the water are plain soymilk or vanilla yogurt.
