Makeup Tips for Mature Women

mature women makeup tips

Skincare – As we women mature our skin gets drier.  Therefore we need to emphasize using moisture-driven formulas for our skincare regimen.  Make sure that your cleanser, toner and moisturizer are all very moisturizing.  For mature women who have extra-dry skin. They should consider using a night-time emollient or an elixer for added moisture.

Primer – For mature women, a luminizing primer gives skin a smooth texture and radiant boost from the light reflecting particles that are specific to the luminizing formula. Primer should be applied after your skincare regimen is completed and before foundation is applied.

Foundation – Moisturizing liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer are the two best foundation types for mature women.  Foundation should be applied as a thin veil rather than full heavy coverage using a cosmetic sponge.

Brows – As women get older, brows begin to get thin and sparse.  To correct this, women can apply brow corrector powder with an angle brush in feather-like strokes.  It is best to use a powder color that is closest to your true natural hair color.  If brows are naturally wild, use an eyebrow gel to keep them in place.  At all costs, mature women should avoid using black as their powder color.

Eyeshadow – As women mature, eyelids tend to produce more and more lines and they should be prepped with eye primer to prevent any creasing of eyeshadow.  Neutral colors in sheer matte textures will look the best on mature women.  Please avoid any shimmery or glittery textures on mature women.

Eye Liner – Mature women do not look best with a straight harsh line of eye liner.  Instead, eye liner should be massaged into the lash line to give the illusion of slightly thicker lashes.

Mascara – As women get older, lashes tend to thin out.  Hence, a light coat using a thickening and/or voluminizing formula applied from the roots to the tips will give great definition.

Blush – Because older women tend to have drier skin, any opportunity to restore moisture to the skin is beneficial. Cream blushes are very moisturizing and looks fresh and yourthful on your skin.  To apply, use your middle finger and apply to the apples of your cheek blending upwards.  A little goes a long way.

Lips – Mature women should use a sheer matte or pearlescent formula as they are both moisturizing for the lips.  Also, a nude lip liner should be used to help with lip color bleeding.  Any color that makes your face come alive is great to use  Avoid any dark/dull colors as they tend to make you look older.
