TV host Maria Menounos has published her second book, “The EveryGirl’s Guide to Diet and Fitness.” It debuted as a hot new release on Amazon last week. While making the rounds on her book tour, Menounos stopped at Trina Turk boutique for a signing and celebration hosted by Hint Water.
Menounos is already a bestselling author of her 2011 “EveryGirl’s Guide to Life,” which included a section on health and fitness. She noted, however, that one chapter could only hold so much. Finding that many readers wanted to know more on the topic, Menounos decided to go deeper.
The result was this latest book, outlining how Menounos herself became fit and healthy. Believe it or not, the toned star was once 40 pounds heavier. She utilized a unique but realistic approach to drop the weight, and documented the whole process in detail (with some fine-tuning through research and expert advice) for anyone who wants to follow it.
“My main goal is to try to encourage women to aim to be healthy, not skinny,” Menounos said. “When you do that, skinny will be the byproduct, and that’s what happened with me.”
“Use one of those fitness tracker bracelets and aim to get 10,000 steps in per day,” Menounos suggested. “Take advantage of Central Park. I have great workouts in the book, which can be done outside. Create a camera roll of pictures on your phone called ‘workouts’ so you always have them accessible.”
Second, be prepared.
“Have almonds, a banana or an apple in your bag. When you’re starving and you let yourself get to that place – which you shouldn’t, but it can happen because we’re all human – reach for that healthy snack to stave the hunger off until you’re able to eat a meal.”
There’s so much more where that came from in “The EveryGirl’s Guide to Diet and Fitness,” available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, the iBookstore and other retailers.
