The nightly ritual NYC has opened its windows for – to cheer on hospital and essential workers at 7pm – has been phenomenal! In honor of National Nurses Week, May 6th–12th, here are a few easy ways to go the extra mile in paying it forward.
Below are three ways to donate and give back to the frontline nurses who are helping to keep us safe, while supporting small businesses at the same time.

The Japanese restaurant Kissaki is supporting hospital workers by delivering sushi boxes to local hospital workers across NYC. The sushi restaurant is contributing to the effort to help #flattenthecurve, with the help of MIR Solutions Group to provide two 3-ply hospital-approved masks with every meal delivered. Through customer pre-purchases, they are able to deliver meals to frontline hospital workers, while also supporting their staff. Billie Eilish and Finneas’ mother, Maggie Baird, created the give back initiative Support + Feed, where people can support vegan businesses during the coronavirus pandemic as well as key workers on the front lines. When you place an order at Beyond Sushi you’ll have the option to add a monetary donation to the Support + Feed program. People can donate here to help feed healthcare professionals across NYC. The vegan, plant-based and kosher eatery has had a history of feeding the frontlines. Beyond Sushi owners Guy and Tali Vaknin started a fundraiser of their own where for every $200 raised, they send a care package of individual meals to a local hospital. The husband and wife duo have donated 250 hearty plant-based meals to the medical teams at Elmhurst Hospital, Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Metropolitan Hospital, Lincoln Medical Center and New York Presbyterian / Weill Cornell Medical Center. They have currently raised nearly $3,500 via Go Fund Me
Loulou French Bistro in Chelsea had only been open for two weeks before the pandemic hit NYC. Owner Mathias Van Leyden had to decide whether or not to close his less than a month old restaurant completely. He decided to stay, fight and began delivery and takeout. The restaurant went a step further by delivering meals to New York Presbyterian/Columbia University ICU staffers from a fundraiser set up by Seven Rooms and now he’s continuing this endeavor. Loulou is asking for donations where 100% of the proceeds go towards preparing and delivering meals to nurses and doctors during this time. They’ve raised over $4,000 to feed hospital workers.
