For those who have not seen it, tell us about ‘Revenge Body’ by Khloe Kardashian.

Revenge Body is a show hosted by Khloe Kardashian. Its purpose is to help people who want to lose weight. Often there is something traumatic that this people have gone through, someone who has hurt them or something from their past that is the driving force behind them wanting to lose the weight and be on the show.  BUT the amazing thing about the show is that WE focus on the “contestant.” We focus on building them up. On helping them go through the emotions so they can get past the traumatic event, all while they lose the weight.  So, it really is a total transformation, body, mind and soul.

What can we expect to see this season?

This season you can expect to see some tough, heart breaking stories, a lot of sweat and amazing transformations.

What about your approach to fitness & exercise makes you so coveted by celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Brooke Burke & Rachel Zoe?

My approach to fitness & nutrition is one that focuses on sustainability.  I will get you results and do it in a way that can be maintained for life.  I don’t promise quick fixes, you have to do the work, but you don’t have to spend 3 hours a day in the gym or starve yourself  either.  My nutrition has 3 principals, portion control, balanced macro-nutrients and significantly reducing highly processed foods. When it comes to the workouts, I use cardio strength training moves to torch calories and define the body; so you look feminine and strong.  But make no mistake, I can whip a dude’s butt into shape too.

What habits can we incorporate into our daily routines to attain a healthy way of living?

The 3 best habits you can incorporate into your daily routine are:

  1. Schedule your workout and do not let anything interfere with that.  This is your ‘me’ time.
  2.  Be prepared. Being prepared isn’t half the battle – it is the battle.  So, prepare your nutrition; have a plan you are going to follow such as the Ultimate Portion Fix.  Grocery shop & meal prep so that you can set yourself up for success.
  3.  Don’t forget about self-care. It’s so important to give your body the proper amount of rest, to hydrate and to have self-love.

Tell us about your breakthrough weight loss program.

My nutrition program has been around for almost 6 years now; ever since I launched my first program with Beach Body, 21 Day Fix.  Over the last 5 years I’ve learned more, I’ve listened to people’s questions, what they want more information on and their concerns. So the NEW ULTIMATE PORTION FIX is a deep dive into how my color coded portion control system works.  We talk about the 3 main principals of the program including portion control, balance macro nutrients, and significantly reducing highly processed foods.  I go into the different ways that you can use the program based on your goals, exactly how to follow the plan with food lists and other crucial information.  There’s a module on using the system with your entire family. Including how to teach children to eat healthy.  With the kid’s component it’s NOT about weight loss, it’s about teaching them how to start eating healthy, it’s about having the conversation about what food does for our bodies & getting them involved in the process of grocery shopping and cooking.  There’s a guidebook to use while you watch the videos, a logbook to track your containers, workouts, sleep, energy, feelings and more and my newest cookbook, Fixate Vol 2.

What would you say are the biggest challenges people face when trying to achieve their body goals?

The biggest challenge people face when trying to achieve their body goals is not being patient.  We live in this “I want it right now society.”  They don’t give their bodies time to actually do the work & go through the process.  If a huge number doesn’t come off in the first week or every week people tend to think it’s not working.  You have to be patient, give it time.  Even if you aren’t physically seeing changes every day, the change is happening on the inside.  It’s about health & long-lasting results not just about how fast can I get a 6 pack.

What are the biggest fitness myths you hear from your clients, and what are the facts?

I think the biggest complaint I hear is people being mad that they “only lost 1 or 2 pounds this week.”  They think that it is not a lot of weight, and that they should be slimming down faster.  In reality, 1-2 pounds a week is about what you should be losing and is considered sustainable weight loss.  Sometimes people will lose more at the beginning or if they have more weight to lose but on average 1-2 pounds is great.  The other thing I hear is people jumping on crazy diet trends and thinking that will help them lose weight faster.  In reality if you’re cutting our food groups or going most of the day without eating you might lose weight at first, but it will be hard to maintain.  Balance is key.

Finally, at BELLA, we believe that beauty is defined by each. What does beauty mean to you, and how do you find it?

To me beauty is inner peace and confidence.  It’s how you carry yourself & loving yourself “flaws” and all.  I find it in my daily routine, in respecting my body & treating it well.  I find it in personal development, always working to better myself but knowing that doesn’t make me better than anyone else.
