Renowned denomination announces week-long celebration of the popular Italian sparkling wine with masterclasses, restaurant and retail promotions and events for the public, press and trade
‘National Prosecco Week’ will return for its second year from June 3-9, 2019. The Prosecco DOC Consortium, the entity that oversees the production of the world’s most popular sparkling wine announced that it will include exclusive events, restaurant and retail promotions and masterclasses for media and trade in New York, Miami, Nashville, Los Angeles and Seattle. Activities throughout the week will seek to educate the public about Prosecco and showcase its ability to be enjoyed in a variety of occasions and with a wide range of cuisines.
As part of the festivities, Prosecco DOC will partner with wine media company VinePair to host an exclusive “Prosecco Loves Pizza” event for VinePair readers at Chef Jean Georges’s Public Kitchen in New York City on Thursday, June 6. The event will feature Prosecco and pizza pairings, a combination truly expressive of Italian culture. The event will also feature experiential opportunities for attendees to learn more about the Prosecco DOC.
Prosecco lovers in New York City can also participate in the celebrations by attending a Prosecco and cheese pairing class hosted by Murray’s Cheese on Saturday, June 8th. During the class, attendees will pair six types of cheese with six different Proseccos, exploring the various styles of Prosecco and the ability to pair the popular Italian sparkler with a variety of flavors. Tickets can be purchase at this link.
For those outside of New York City, Prosecco DOC will also launch a nationwide restaurant and retail promotion, which will include Prosecco ‘by the glass’ specials, limited-edition Prosecco and food pairings and more. Through these promotions, the public will have the opportunity to enjoy Prosecco from participating producers, including Biancavigna, Cavit, Genagricola, La Marca, Le Contesse, Masottina, Mionetto, Piera Martellozzo, Tenuta Setten, Torresella, Valdo, Villa Degli Olmi, Villa Sandi and Zonin. In its second year, National Prosecco Week seeks to not only celebrate Prosecco but serve an important educational purpose, teaching the public, press and trade how to pair the fragrant, bubbly beverage with many different cuisines and occasions, from backyard barbecues to poolside sipping. “The Consortium is aware of the big potential of the American market, therefore we are extremely glad to launch this initiative after last year’s success,” says Stefano Zanette, President of Prosecco DOC Consortium. “The public’s appreciation of Prosecco DOC has considerably increased in the last few years, both globally and in the USA. We have not only exported the wine, but a brand new consumption model as well.”
