Runway Looks for a Powerful Woman Like You

Fall 2017 makeup trends align perfectly with the message seen up and down the runway: strength. Join the revolution of this season’s beauty statement by taking inspiration from the runway looks below.

Graphic Liner and a Pop of Color

It’s time to think about drawing outside of the lines like the floating liner seen at Thierry Mugler and the disconnected messy wing at Yves Saint Laurent. Whoever said liner must stay by the lash line, anyway?

Not only was liner graphic, but the liners were colorful! Color splashed the runway in a big way starting with the Oscar De La Renta show, where makeup artist Tom Pecheux combined a hot pink liner with a pastel swept lid.

Ready to bring both trends together? Check out Emilio De La Morena’s mesmerizing striped eye with three shades of graphic liner. Don’t have an artistic hand? No worries! Grab a colored mascara like Gucci, and you’ll fit right in!

A clear deviation from the no-makeup-makeup look, we saw metallic pigments glisten across lids the way a Renaissance painter’s brushstrokes bring a canvas to life. There isn’t one specific eyeshadow shade for fall like years past, but there is a trending texture: metallic. Take cues from makeup artist Tom Pecheux, who created one makeup design for Brandon Maxwell but used various shades on each model.

The softest interpretation of metallics was displayed by Genny, with a soft shimmer from lash line to brow bone that was only visible in certain lights.

Berry Lips

Whether you go bold or barely-there, dress your lips in berry this fall. Application? Undone. Undone like a model rushing from one shoot to the next with little time to fuss. Giambattista Valli drenched lips in a dark berry vinyl stain that was applied imperfectly. Prefer more of the matte look? After applying your perfect shade, try wiping away color from the center of the lip to create a bit of brightness like makeup artist Erin Parsons did for LaPerla.
