Road trips might not sound like the most glamorous way to spend a vacation, but they’ve become more and more popular in the recent years and we can see why. More and more problems seem to have arisen with airline travel (you can’t make this stuff up!), making people flock to the roads for a cheaper, more convenient way to travel. Plus, with all the latest technology, road tripping is even easier and more luxurious than it has ever been (we’re looking at you, Waze).

So how are people taking to the roads? In the all new 2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2! For those of you not on the up and up with cars, this car is the first midsize pickup with off-roading capabilities, making it a standout in the industry. You can begin your journey on the paved and busy streets of New York City and end up in the rocky terrain of Colorado and even passing through the sandy deserts of Arizona. The ZR2, when compared with the standard Chevy Colorado, has lifted suspensions that are 2 inches higher, as well as front and track widths widened by 3.5 inches, plus rock sliders — this allows the truck to easily ride over rocks without any damage to the undercarriage.
We were able to test drive these amazing trucks off road at the renowned Monticello Motor Club and let me tell you, these cars seem to be able to withstand anything! On a rainy overcast day, we made our way through mud, over roots, through rivers, up and down hills, and over rocks. Nothing fazed this car. One of our favorite features was the hill descent control, which automatically slows you down when you’re cruising downhill (you don’t even need your foot on the brakes!).
And the interior is just as impressive as the mechanical components of this truck. It’s equipped with surround vision, allowing drivers to see all around you, as well as a virtual bird’s eye view. It also features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as 4G LTE WiFi and Connectivity, so that you’re connected no matter where you are. You can also download the myChevrolet Mobile App, which allows you to start and shut down your car, lock and unlock your doors, activate the car horn and lights, send parking reminders and so much more — without even being near your car!
And most importantly for a road trip – this car is comfortable. While trucks gave their value, they aren’t normally known for their comfort, but the ZR2 doesn’t skimp on any detail. Next time I plan a road trip, I’m definitely looking into getting one of these bad boys.
