Television Industry Advocacy Awards Recognizes Celebrity Champions

Advocacy Honors, an organization founded to amplify the voices of public personalities who advocate for the collective good, presented the 5th Annual Television Industry Advocacy Awards on October 23 in Hollywood.  Paying tribute to individuals in television whose work and life promote advocacy for social consciousness and change, the event was held at the famous TLC Chinese Theater and opened with words from the United Nations Association Executive Director Rachel Pittman, fittingly, speaking on the night before UN Day.

Recognizing  the power of celebrity voices, the annual event is presented to acknowledge those in the television industry who have used their influence not only to inspire conversation, but to advocate for social awareness and affect real change.
Supporting a variety of causes, the honorees were recognized for being true social advocates and making an impact in their respective sectors. Honorees and presenters included actor, director, and  Americares board member, Tony Goldwyn;  actor and founder of Women’s Alzheimer Movement, Minnie Driver; author and founder of W.E. Can Lead and former CNN anchor, Isha Sesay; and  RJ Mitte, actor, activist and United Cerebral Palsy ambassador.

Advocacy Honors is a community of celebrities, media properties and corporate partners dedicated to using their platforms to encourage advocacy and boost the voices that inspire change. In addition to those mentioned,  Unicef, Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, Operation Smile, the Eva Longoria Foundation, and the I Have A Dream Foundation are some of the organizations their advocates represent.
