The Accessories Lounge Merges Ballroom Culture with Handcrafted Artistry

The Black Accessory Designers Alliance (BADA) showcased selected accessory designers as part of The Accessories Lounge. On October 7 at Energi Studio in Manhattan 3 designers came together to celebrate a “POSE” themed night inspired by Ballroom Couture on the show.

Shantel Mickens, designer of Doray Unlimited, featured her bag brand that showcases her personal aesthetic. Designed for both women and men Doray Unlimited is a collection of small leather goods and handcrafted bags, she is known for traveling the tri-state area to show off her designs at Pop Ups and private parties.

Lina Krakue created her jewelry line because she couldn’t find jewelry to fit her style. Heavily inspired her West African roots, Lina Krakue Jewelry draws from her personal history. From hand painted Ghana beads, Kente cloth influences, and oral stories, Lina’s line includes upcycled and repurposed materials to lend to the sense of tradition.

Wilbur Pack Jr., designer of SK WiLBUR, showcased he is line of contemporary clothes for working women. SK WiLBUR has evolved to include options for larger sizes and curvier women. Inspired by graffiti and pop culture. His accessories are unique, bold, and fun but also serve as subtle social and political statements.
