Samantha Gellis, Sophia Prisco, Nina Davelman and Sophia Liranzo took the 2020 STEAM Tank Challenge seriously. So much so that their invention, the ‘All You Can Need Binder,’ is taking them to the next level, The Regional Competition.

The STEAM Tank Challenge, was created and is sponsored by NJSBA and the U.S. Army.

The competitions is meant to encourage New Jersey’s public school students in the areas of STEAM – science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math.

It also asks the district teams to invent something new, modify an existing product, or identify a situation or real-world problem that needs resolution. Teams are provided criteria and a panel of experts judge their designs and/or solutions.

The girls surveyed their classmates and learned that their ‘All You Can Need Binder,’ could help 73% of their peers be more organized + prepared for class.

They met with BELLA Media + Co. CEO Vanessa Coppes to learn more about how fashion + social media could help make their binder appeal to consumers, spread their message and grow their idea. They had a serious pow wow over ice cream at Coldstone Creamery in Marlboro, New Jersey. Power point presentation included.

This popular program attracted more than 657 team applications from across the state. You can watch the finalists in three categories: elementary school, middle school, and high school compete at Workshop 2020. The competition will take place on Oct. 20 and Oct. 21 in the I-STEAM Green Command Center on the exhibit floor.

We wish these mini #BELLAs all the best! #GirlPower
