Beautiful pristine beaches, soft sand, and crystal clear blue waters are a few of the things that make the Bahamas one of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean. Officially known as The Commonwealth of the Bahamas, the country is comprised of more than 700 islands, with only about 30 inhabited by people. Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, and one of the largest islands, is also home to some of the most exquisite resorts. It’s here where families, friends, and couples, all looking for a fun-filled escape can either relax or play all day.

The Cove at The Atlantis on Paradise Island is pure luxury, and the perfect place to relax, recharge, and reconnect. Situated between Cove and Paradise beaches, the hotel features an open-air lobby, known as “The Breezeway,” which upon arrival, leaves guests feeling like they’ve stepped into a little slice of Caribbean heaven. With the resort going through a brand evolution right now, they are committed to the celebration and nurturing of the culture of their country while continuing to provide guests with authentic experiences tied to the Bahamian spirit. Simply put, they refer to it as, “Bahamas at Heart.”  It’s truly the epitome of what you expect from an oceanfront resort.

For anyone looking to spend their days soaking up the sun, The Cove shares a separate beach and a large family pool with the neighboring Reef tower, which is the resort’s luxury residential-style accommodations. Guests looking to turn things up a notch with a party pool atmosphere can head on over to the adults-only pool with access only to those staying at The Cove. In addition to the live DJ are private cabanas that offer both pool and beach access, along with outdoor gambling.

The stunning rooms and oceanfront suites provide views of the Atlantic as well as the colossal resort which includes not only The Cove, but the neighboring towers that make up the Atlantis resort. One of the many great things you’ll discover when staying here is that not only will you feel a part of this exclusive remote island escape, you’ll still have the ability to take part in all of the amenities and experiences; it’s the best of both worlds all rolled into one.

When it comes to dining, the resort boasts over 40 restaurants, bars and lounges, featuring cuisines for all taste buds and different personalities. There is no shortage of restaurant and entertainment options to choose from when you’re staying at The Cove.

For breakfast, Mosaic offers an extensive all you can eat buffet with a variety of stations. For anyone who loves breakfast you will not be disappointed. The Mediterranean-influenced restaurant, located in The Cove is also open for dinner.

While relaxing by the pool or in one of the cabanas, lunch from Sip Sip is a must. As part of The Cove’s relaunch in 2017, the restaurant serves up the freshest and tastiest Bahamian-inspired food. And if you want to “sip sip” on the ultimate island cocktail, order the rum punch.

For anyone who loves seafood, Fish by José Andrés features the freshest Bahamian seafood from this master chef. Appetizers like the shrimp with garlic packs a flavorful punch while the Butternut Squash Soup with seared scallops (they can be omitted for those non-fish eaters) are excellent choices. And with numerous entrees like the Bahamian spiny lobster, conch fish (the Bahamas most famous of food), or the infamous Lion fish, you can’t choose wrong.

*Interesting fact – the lion fish can outlive, out-eat, and out-breed all other species, thus hurting the health of the ocean. A portion of the proceeds from this dish benefits The Atlantis Blue Project Foundation.

Another must-have reservation to make is at the world famous Japanese restaurant Nobu, located in the Atlantis. The extensive menu and unique cocktails offer a dining experience you’ll be talking about long after the meal is finished. Some favorites on the menu include the Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeño, Tuna tartar over crispy rice, Japanese Wagyu beef, and a crisp and refreshing cocktail like the Lychee and Elderflower martini, all excellent choices.

Rounding out the restaurants that you’ll want to experience during your stay is Café Martinique, located in the marina section of the Atlantis. The restaurant is the only one of its kind to feature a seasonal, plant-forward menu. Night after night, Chef Alessio Pitzalis creates unique Mediterranean-inspired dishes using local Bahamian ingredients. Guests can also choose from over 300 different fine wine labels, all meticulously selected by the restaurant’s in-house sommelier.

While the resort provides their guests with nothing less than memorable experiences to last a lifetime, they’re also working tirelessly behind the scenes to care for the sea species and their habitats throughout The Bahamas and the surrounding Caribbean seas through The Atlantis Blue Project Foundation.

The nonprofit 501(c)3 organization was founded in 2007 and its mission, funded through scientific research, conservation programs, and community outreach efforts, is to protect the waters and its vast marine wildlife for generations to come. The team is comprised of marine biologists, aquarists, veterinarians, and local partners who work tirelessly on these important research efforts.

As one of the world’s premier destinations for scuba diving and snorkeling, you can delve into the underwater world of the Caribbean, swim with the dolphins at Dolphin Cay, one of the largest and most sophisticated marine-mammal habitats in the world, spend time exploring Aquaventure, the Atlantis’ one-of-a-kind 141 acre water park, or kick back and spend your time relaxing on the beach, cocktail in hand. Your wish is their command.

At Dolphin Cay, the 14 acre sanctuary, comprised of an 11 acre lagoon, seven pools, and an animal rescue rehabilitation hospital, also boasts a laboratory, pharmacy, and operating suite.

Every visit to Dolphin Cay supports the Atlantis Blue Project Foundation. As guests have the chance to experience, up-close, the bottlenose dolphins and sea lions that inhabit the waters through a variety of different programs, funding is made possible to continue the conservation efforts, making this extraordinary adventure even sweeter.

It’s no wonder this resort has received multiple awards in excellence year after year, including Conde Nast Travelers Readers Choice Awards for 2019. Life is truly better in the Bahamas!
