On the tails of the launch of their 52 Year whiskey comes a new, more affordable expression, the Macallan Estate. Previously only available to a limited amount of lucky people, the Macallan Estate is distilled just once a year, over the course of a week. Using barley grown on the Easter Elchies estate (where The Macallan has produced whiskey since 1824), this new spirit was created to honor the single malt’s heritage.
Notes of wood spice and orange oil complement the sherry taste of this single malt, as Whiskey Maker for The Macallan, Sarah Burgess, says — “With its wonderful sweet citrus hints and warming wood spice, The Macallan Estate is a rich, satisfying and complex spirit that pays homage to the fertile Speyside lands where The Macallan is located and celebrates the unrivaled craftsmanship which we have been known.” A bottle of The Macallan Estate costs $250 and is now available across the United States.
