New York Fashion Week Comes Alive

Times Square Fashion Week Moving Fashion Forward

Despite the cancellation of many shows this year due to Covid-19, Times Square will come alive once again, during the iconic New York Fashion Week, with the 2nd Annual Times Square Fashion Week. The socially responsbible event is presented by DCG Media Group and Fashion Mingle, in conjunction with the Office of Manhattan Borough President, Gale Brewer, the Times Square Alliance, and Jean Shafiroff, NYC socialite, author, and philanthropist – among other partners – to support the fashion and garment industry in “Moving Fashion Forward.”

WHY: A new level of ambition and hope is the message of Times Square Fashion Week. COVID-19 has affected and devastated the fashion industry in record proportions. Though fashion has been dismissed as pointless during such trying times – in comparison to the frontline service industries fighting to keep people alive and fed – the New York fashion industry is a creative mecca and one of the world’s most compelling economic heavyweights. The global economy is suffering, not to mention the furloughing and unemployment status of millions of artists, designers, seamstresses, showrooms, retail stores, and manufacturing companies. Times Square Fashion Week seeks to bring attention to the creative professionals who are moving fashion forward.

We know that the industry will be uniquely transformed post-pandemic and we need to be a part of the change to help shape the future of fashion. Times Square Fashion Week “Moving Fashion Forward” will celebrate New York fashion designers who inspire and empower, through creativity and a commitment to moving fashion forward, while offering hope that together we can move forward to the future. New York City, the heart of the fashion industry, has been strong and resilient during this critical time, and we will ride this wave together.

WHO: Time Square Fashion Week will launch with a press conference and designer presentation. We are honored to have NYC socialite and philanthropist, Jean Shafiroff, as our Mistress Of Ceremonies. In addition, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer as a co- sponsor and keynote speaker, in addition to other VIPS and dignitaries.

WHAT: Fashion designers will participate in Covid-compliant LIVE photo shoots in Times Square, beginning on September 8th, and running through September 12th. Times Square will come alive with a digital fashion show, as designers are featured on the iconic digital billboards. Behind-the-scenes coverage of the designer experiences, as well as interviews with the key creatives involved, will be developed into a digitally streamed short film dedicated to showcasing how New York City is moving fashion forward.

A portion of our proceeds, including those from our Times Square Fashion Week Face Mask by Throw NYC, will benefit City Harvest. City Harvest is New York City’s largest food rescue organization, feeding the nearly 1.2 million New Yorkers who are struggling to put food on their tables.

WHEN: The press conference launching Times Square Fashion Week will be held on September 8th [BY INVITATION ONLY]. Time & location will be sent to confirmed press.
