Where dining establishment meets social club, Union Sushi & Steak (Union) is the chicest supper club in the Hamptons this summer. If you’re a New Yorker, chances are your weekend plans from Memorial Day to Labor Day consist of traveling out East to bask in the relaxation and sophistication of the Hamptons. One of my favorite Long Island destinations is Southampton—not as far east as Montauk and a charming beach town laden with posh dining and nightlife options. If you want the best of both worlds, my recommendation is checking out Union.

Union Sushi & Steak is a modern take on the steakhouses of old, co-founded by Ian Duke and partner David Hilty, the owners of the Southampton Social Club and Union Burger Bar. Co-located with Union Burger Bar in the historic Bowden Square property, the year-round restaurant fuses the energy of a classic supper club with a modern ambiance. The cuisine is brought to us by award-winning chefs Scott Kampf and Marc Fasciana of varied fame and tenures.

As you enter this sophisticated eatery, you’ll notice a beautiful lawn and patio area with outdoor seating to bask in that Hamptons summer buzz. As you enter their main dining room complete with white linen tablecloths and a baby grand piano, you are instantly immersed in a fine dining, upscale atmosphere. I recommend making a reservation later in the evening on Friday and Saturday, so you will also get to experience their live music for the perfectly blended nightlife and dining experience. The ambiance of the venue is charming and posh, but the menu is what keeps locals and tourists alike coming back each weekend. Offering year-round sushi options, my suggestion is one of their most popular—the Union Roll.

Just imagine surf and turf meets sushi! It features lobster and avocado topped with marinated skirt steak, eel sauce, and yuzu mayo. If you’re looking to skip the surf, their 22-ounce Dry Aged Rib Eye is one of the most melt-in-your-mouth cuts of steak you’ll ever have. Union imports the meat straight from Niman Ranch in Colorado, where they take pride in raising their cattle naturally, sustainably, and humanely.

And while the cuisine is exquisite, no Hamptons evening dining out with friends would be complete without a craft summer cocktail. One of my favorites this summer is The Escape, a piña colada-style cocktail made with a blend of coconut, lime, and pineapple juices, shaken with Kikori Japanese rice whiskey and Singani 63 infused with CBD oil. Think trendy libation meets the summer staple piña colada!

Easily one of my favorite venues to visit every time I am out east is Union Sushi & Steak. Overall: Its beautiful space, well-groomed atmosphere, lively entertainment, delicious menu, and hand-crafted cocktails are all the ingredients you’ll need for a Hamptons summer hot spot. 10 out of 10!
