W New York — Downtown Announces The Launch of Contemporary Art Exhibition Featuring Ivy Naté
Many tourists make their way to lower Manhattan to visit The Statue of Liberty, One World Trade Center, South Street Seaport and the Brooklyn Bridge. Yet, since the resurgence of downtown there are so many other reasons to visit and stay in the area. The W New York Downtown, located in the heart of this bustling borough overlooks One World Trade Center (a great landmark if you are lost in the area) and the Oculus. The entire area is colorful and warm with the surrounding street art.

Although the exterior of the W blends together with the skyscrapers of the area, the interior design of the hotel’s Living Room does its best to stand out with a curved ceiling covered in lights adjacent to the lobby of the hotel. The Living Room will convert to a gallery space showcasing a resident artist installation, new for each quarter. This month, the work of Ivy Naté will be on display until March 2019. Naté is known for using universally recognizable objects (like stuffed animals) in non-traditional ways. “As I work I rely on my head to speak to my hands to resolve my internal differences,” says Naté. “At the end of the day I am trying to reach my inner-self and embrace who she is and to find comfort for her. My work is a result of this tension between ‘little Ivy’ and the external world.”
Be sure to stop by and sip on a creative cocktail inspired by the Ivy Naté’s work. The Bearly Liquid, made with Ketel One Vodka, St. Germain, and lemon juice garnished with Gummy Bears, will be served at the Living Room bar with a portion of proceeds from each cocktail purchased donated to Animal Haven.
