Recently the university I attend, the University of Tampa, wrote an article about me and fellow classmates with interesting summer internships. One of the major questions that I was asked was, “How has your internship at BELLA impacted you professionally and personally?”
Professionally…well, I’d rather explain a sentence that will help keep me grounded.
“Work hard and be kind”.
This quoatation is short, sweet and straight to the point. No one wants to be known as a mean slacker. It’s important to keep positive relations with the people you work with and to have a good reputation in the work place. You never know who knows who, especially when you’re working in your specific field of interest.
Personally, interning at BELLA has impacted my confidence in a positive way. Talking to people on the phone can be nerve wracking, and so can approaching people on the street! I for one am afraid of rejection, but I’ve learned through this internship that rejections occur, but they shouldn’t stop me from doing my best. I’ve learned that having confidence when I’m on the phone or in the streets really allows people to take me seriously. I now have no problem promoting the magazine because I know what to say when I’m on the phone or taking someone’s picture for Street Style.
This article has allowed me to really reflect on my time at BELLA. From observing photoshoots to attending BlogHer, this internship has taught me a lot. At BELLA my fellow interns and I are always reminded that we’re doing a great job. However, it’s also extremely rewarding to be recognized by my university and to be used as a helpful example for my fellow Spartans.
