You Against You

Yes, that’s right: YOU!

I know we like to point the finger and blame external things like the economy, our childhood, the neighborhood we grew up in, the school we went to, the teachers we had, our parents, our bosses, our customers; the list goes on and on. The truth is: it is probably YOU holding yourself back in life.

There is really nothing stopping you in life from achieving what it is you desire.  If you want something bad enough, you have to go get it. Why can I say this? Because there are plenty examples of others who HAVE done what you wish you could do. You can either say to yourself, “Well, they’re lucky. Not everyone is lucky in life.” Or you can say, “Why not me? Am I not entitled to my own successes and dreams?!”  Are you any less of a human being than anyone else? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

The reason most people like to blame external factors is because it’s an easy way out. Think about it. Isn’t it easier to blame someone else or something else for your “shortcomings” in life?  If you point the finger externally, you will continue to stay where you are because it’s “out of your hands.”  BUT, if you take full responsibility for yourself, you have an option.

Even if it ISN’T your fault, what can you do about it to improve your situation? Instead of complaining, what actions can you take to correct things? What can you do to head in the direction you desire? How have you been sabotaging yourself? What would you like to have? What would you like to be? What would you like to achieve? Go ahead and write down these questions. Don’t worry if you don’t have the answers.  By asking these questions you will open your mind up to the infinite possibilities that are available to you.

WARNING:

Yes, you will get knocked down along the way. Yes, you will fail occasionally. Yes, IT WILL BE HARD. There will be mornings where you ask yourself, “Why do I even bother?”  That is the part of you that you must confront one-on-one.  Never let that part of you talk you out of what you deserve. Never let that part of you tell you “that’s the way life goes.”  You may not be able to control life, but you can certainly set off in the direction you desire, bringing you closer to where you want to be, what you’d like to achieve, and ultimately what you want to have. When it comes down to it, it’s You against You.
