BELLA got to know the young entrepreneur and learn more about her flourishing career…
Your modeling resume includes some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Vogue and Chanel. How did you get your start in modeling?
I sort of fell into it. I was a super outdoorsy “tom-boy” for most of my childhood but at the age of 12 I was in contact with a senior portrait photographer. I started doing these fun shoots with this local photographer, and at one of the shoots there was an agency scout for a local agency nearby. I signed with them and then my love for modeling began!
Maintaining physical fitness and staying active are passions of yours – and I’m sure an asset to your modeling career – are there things you do to stay fit for work and others you do just for fun?
I love being active. It makes my soul feel nourished and I love doing things that are fun along the way, too. Some of my favorite ways to stay active are surfing, snowboarding, sailing, and lifting. When I keep it enjoyable, I never have to force anything to change the way I look. Health comes so effortlessly when it is something I want to do.
You also advocate for meditation, happiness, and a positive body image. Do these all go hand in hand? And how do you keep a healthy perspective on body image in a demanding beauty industry?
They absolutely do. This begins with mindfulness and awareness of yourself. I really stay in my own little world, and I try to not let outside sources affect me if they can hinder me in any way. This was taught over time and I definitely didn’t always have such thick skin. I keep a healthy perspective by remembering to show myself gratitude. I take a step back, and realize the things I do love about myself, and put that in front of my face instead of my insecurities in the moment.
What inspired the transition from modeling to podcast hosting? And how do you manage to juggle them both?
I love modeling soooo much. I also love being the go-to friend for advice, or intellectual conversations, or motivating stories, and I knew I was so passionate about this. I knew I wanted to figure out a way to show this side of me as well, and a podcast is the perfect way to do so. I love both modeling and hosting my podcast, and I have a lot of natural passion for both. When there is natural passion, it always comes a lot easier. I am on the right path, and I can feel the longevity within these.
Are there any special podcast guests or topics we can look forward to? Is there another podcast/podcast host that you’d like to collaborate with in the future?
Yes! I recently featured 2 Children’s Book Authors and we had really heartfelt conversation about the impotence of self-love, and we also touched on the addictiveness of social media, and what enlightenment really means. I admire anyone who has mindful outlooks on something they have passion for. Anyone that can relate or give expanded insight is welcome in my eyes! I love learning about people’s stories.
